WSRC VIII Delegation Visits Dalian Commodity Exchange
CAAS delegation led by Dr. Wang Shumin, Deputy Secretary-General of World Soybean Research Conference (WSRC) VIII Organizing Committee and Deputy Director of Institute of Crop Sciences (ICS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) visited Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) and discussed WSRC VIII preparation and related issues with the senior leadership of DCE between 13th and 14th of April, 2009. Dr. Guo Xiaoli, vice GM of DCE, Mr. Yao Lei, Director of DCE Industry Development department and Ms. Wang Yufei, Head of DCE Soybean Experts Group received Dr. Wang and his party.
Dr. Wang delivered an invitation to Dr. Guo regarding inviting Mr. Liu Xingqiang, GM of DCE to deliver a plenary lecture at WSRC VIII. The invitation was signed by Dr. Zhai Huqu, President of CAAS and Chairman of WSRC VIII Organizing Committee; Dr. Wang also made a brief introduction to CAAS and ICS-CAAS. Dr. Han released the preparation progress of WSRC VIII.
The both sides discussed the relevant matters for DCE to attend WSRC VIII. Dr. Guo said, DCE will provide fully support to WSRC VIII and one of the senior leadership of DCE will deliver a plenary lecture entitled The Role & Function of Futures Market in the Soybean Industry Development. DCE will also chair a forum of Soybean Price and Risk Management.
At last, Dr. Guo added a series of suggestion on WSRC VIII preparation and other related issues.
The Dalian Commodity Exchange, founded on February 28, 1993, is one of the four futures exchanges in China. The exchange's listed futures products are non-genetically modified soybean, or soybean No.1, genetically modified soybean, or soybean No.2, soybean meal, soybean oil, corn, LLDPE, RBD palm oil and malting barley. At present, DCE has become the biggest agricultural commodities futures trading center in China and the second largest corn futures market in the world. In the recent years, the DCE has strengthened international cooperation and expansion. It is a member institution of both the U.S. Futures Industry Association and the U.K. Futures and Options Association.
